Fed up with her existing job, 29-year-old Jessica Caldwell decided to start a whole new career as a practicing witch.
Lots of people quit their day jobs to start their own businesses each year, but there are very few whose new vocation involves tarot cards, spell books and crystals.

Caldwell, who previously worked as a beautician, decided to attempt a new career as a witch after becoming fascinated with a paranormal group on Facebook.

"It fascinated me and I felt really drawn to know more," she said.

"At first I was extremely sceptical, but I was really curious and I became obsessed. I felt like it was a pull towards it all, it felt really natural to me."
She now has more than 5,000 clients who are all fans of the services she provides.

"I've always been a witch," she said. "I just never had the tools to utilize my power until now. Intuition is a powerful tool that I never realized I used in my daily life."

"Now I utilize it within my readings with complete strangers."

"My friends and family were worried when I started working full-time, but once I started to earn good money they supported me."

I just don't understand how these types of things become headlines.

Nicest house on one of the roads I take to work belongs to the local tarot reader

We have a few tarot card places around here.  Like you said, the signs they all have are from the 70's so it makes me wonder exactly how much business they actually get.

Sounds more like a front for old hippies to hang out and get stoned

I know quite a few people who claim to be witches. Some even make money at it online. To me, it isn't about whether you believe in witches or not. It is entirely about supporting people who have found a niche for themselves to make money and not have to work normal dumb jobs. To me, that's awesome.

Possibly a lot.  I knew a woman that wouldn't leave the house in the morning until she had a good reading on the tarot deck.

Doesn't need it. She can see the future, so can avoid any illness or accident.
