The legendary Ghostbusters actor and paranormal enthusiast is hosting a new show about strange but true events.
Being a co-writer and cast member of the hit 1984 supernatural comedy Ghostbusters, it would be fair to say that Dan Aykroyd is certainly no stranger to the weird and mysterious.
His own family has a long history with spiritualism, including his great-grandfather - a spiritualist who once corresponded with Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle on the subject.
Aykroyd himself was exposed to stories of the unexplained from a young age, having grown up in an old farmhouse that had seen more than its fair share of paranormal occurrences.
Over the years, he has hosted numerous documentaries and shows about UFOs, ghosts and all sorts of other mysteries and now he's back again with a new show for the History Channel.
The UnBelievable with Dan Aykroyd is slightly different than some of his previous shows in that it focuses entirely on cases of strange and unusual things that have already been proven true.
These range from the peculiar case of a chicken that survived for 18 months after its head was cut off to the London Beer Flood of 1814 which saw 8 people killed by 700 tons of alcoholic beverage.
"The series is full of the bizarre, but the true," said Aykroyd. "That's what appealed to me. It's not fantasy, it's not fiction, it all happened. It's true."
The show is streaming now on HISTORY in the US and will debut in the UK in February 2024.
It’s ok. I see it as a copy of other shows already running, but I know Mr Blues brother has been wanting to do a gig like this for a long time, so good for him.
I've watched the first three episodes and have seen most of the material elsewhere with a few exceptions. Kind of interesting, though and will continue to watch.
Great, more recycled rubbish. I can't wait for younger folks who haven't seen these before start up brand new threads in the sub forums for this same old tired stuff. Wonderful.
