Blue 'orb' inadvertently filmed by news chopper over New York City

Credit: Karl Döringer / (PD) Sometimes UFOs can show up at the most unexpected of times and this recent example, which was captured on camera high over the New York City skyline, is one such case.

Filmed from a news chopper, the object - a bluish sphere - seemed to come out of nowhere and quickly sped off the side of the frame during a Fox 5 news report that aired on Monday.

The clear weather made the object quite easy to see, although it remains unclear what it actually was.

Its appearance wasn't mentioned on the report itself at the time but was instead later picked up by other news outlets such as the New York Post which featured the clip on its own YouTube channel.The path of the object saw it zoom over the Hudson River and past Lower Manhattan.

Some have speculated that it could have been some sort of drone, while others have suggested that it might have even been something as trivial as a reflection of sunlight off a lens or glass panel.

Others, again, maintain that it is evidence of something much more unusual.
