The encounter was reported to air traffic control but there was no sign of the strange object on radar.
According to a recent report filed with the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), the incident occurred on August 16th, when the pilots were flying over Ohio.

The strangeness began when the crew contacted Cleveland Center air traffic controllers to query a sighting of a mysterious object that was described as silver metallic and shaped like a pill.

It appeared almost stationary in the air at 43,000ft as the plane approached.

"The surface was silver and highly reflective, like pure polished metal," the author of the report wrote.
"There were no warps or creases on the surface, nor was it tapered at the bottom."

The strangeness only deepened when it became apparent that the collision-warning system had failed to pick up the object and air traffic controllers confirmed that there was nothing on radar.

The plane ultimately passed the object at 380mph and soon left it far behind.

The entire encounter had lasted only a couple of minutes.

To date, no conclusive explanation for the sighting has been found.
