A conspiracy theory has started to circulate online regarding education classes for gifted children.
Back during the 1980s and 1990s, some of the most promising school pupils in the US were enrolled into a Gifted And Talented Education (GATE) program that offered a more advanced curriculum designed to nurture creative learning and critical thinking skills.

Several decades on, however, some of the former pupils who participated in the program have come to question whether there may have been some ulterior purpose behind it.

One woman, who has recently gained a following on social media thanks to her posts on this subject, showed images of her workbooks from the time demonstrating that she had been asked to engage in a number of surprising activities ranging from cracking codes to learning Russian.

Some have suggested that the GATE program had actually been part of a secretive CIA program known as Gateway which aimed to delve into the limitations of human consciousness using various techniques ranging from sound patterns to meditation.

One declassified CIA document pertaining to the program described the use of 'non-verbal audio patterns' masked by sounds of crashing waves or wind noises.

Some of the former GATE students recalled being exposed to similar recordings at the time.
"Some of [the tests] were basic IQ tests, but many of them were of the meditation-type testing, where we had to listen to a woman's voice on an audio tape with big earphones," said one.

"They were facilitated by people who did not work at our school."

Some former students have even been able to provide examples of some of the audio recordings which often started with a series of strange high-pitched tones.

"This is the first step along your path to a gateway," a man's voice says in one recording. "The gateway beyond which is discovery, your own discovery of reality, of truth, of who and what you are."

But could this really be evidence that the CIA was carrying out secretive research on school kids or were these little more than innocuous learning exercises ?

We may never know for sure.

Audio recordings are not hearing tests.   Hearing tests are hearing tests.

I used to have to go to an isolated room with just a small desk, a lamp and tiny calculator looking thing. It would show math problems and I had to type in the answers as quickly as possible. Each test lasted 2 to 3 minutes. At the end of which a nurse would come in and inject me with something and then I'd take another test. Some days I would feel nothing and others I'd black out and come to back in my normal classroom.

I had to chew through straps, escape from cages and kill **** in order to eat..... Most of the time I was chased around with a cattle prod through because I wouldn't stop eating the guards and nurses...
