The doll, along with Ed and Lorraine Warren's home and museum, has been acquired by comedian Matt Rife.
The notorious doll, which was featured in some of the recent films in
The Conjuring series, was acquired by the Warrens - two of the most famous paranormal investigators in history - back in the 1970s.
The story goes that it was originally gifted to a student nurse, who was later told by a medium that it was possessed by the spirit of a deceased girl named Annabelle.
Before long, it was rumored that the doll had exhibited malicious behavior, ultimately leading to the Warrens taking possession of it and keeping it on display at their museum.
The doll made headline news again recently when Dan Rivera, who had been traveling around the US with it as part of the
Devils on the Run tour, died suddenly in his hotel room.
While this might seem to have been the end for Annabelle, reports have since emerged that the doll has been acquired alongside the Warrens' museum by stand-up comic Matt Rife and YouTuber Elton Castee for an undisclosed sum.
Rife noted that the building is one of the "most important and prominent pieces of paranormal history in the world."
"Ed and Lorraine Warren took demonology, ghost hunting and paranormal investigation and made [them] mainstream," he said.
"
The Conjuring films are my favorite scary movies of all time. So I'm incredibly honored to have taken over one of the most prominent properties in paranormal history."
Rife now plans to reopen the museum to the public and allow overnight stays.
"Still can't believe we're the new owners..." Castee wrote.
"Sitting on their porch now looking at all the photos of them at this house. We're gonna make this the best paranormal investigation location on the planet."
