The infamous doll has been kept for years at the museum once run by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Anyone who has seen the various movies in The Conjuring franchise will likely be familiar with Annabelle - a notorious doll that the Warrens acquired back in the 1970s.
The story goes that it was originally gifted to a student nurse, who was later told by a medium that it was possessed by the spirit of a deceased girl named Annabelle.
Before long, it was rumored that the doll had exhibited malicious behavior, ultimately leading to the Warrens taking possession of it and keeping it on display at their museum.
But Annabelle's story didn't end there.
Most recently, it was widely reported in the press that the doll - which had been traveling around as part of the Devils on the Run Tour hosted by the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR) - had seemingly gone missing from its display case after reaching New Orleans.
The rumor was sparked by stories from tour visitors who claimed they hadn't seen the doll.
This news prompted considerable concern among fans, who speculated that Annabelle was now on the loose and capable of inflicting all manner of paranormal harm upon unsuspecting victims.
But not all was as it seemed.
NESPR lead investigator Dan Rivera quickly moved to debunk the claims that the doll was missing by demonstrating that it was, in fact, still in its case at Ed and Lorraine Warren's museum.
It seemed that, rather than going missing, the doll simply hadn't been included on this particular part of the tour.
"It's a rumor... Annabelle has NOT been stolen," NESPR wrote on its Facebook page.
"The doll is safely in place at the Warren Occult Museum."
