Woman encountered 'demons' during harrowing near-death experience

She was 53 years old at the time and had been placed in a medically-induced coma for 18 days after her lungs failed while suffering from pneumonia.

What she remembered from this time is harrowing to say the least.

"I smelled something terrible, and then I started hearing shrieking and moaning coming out of this fog," she recalled.

"I said to myself 'this can't be good,' then all of a sudden out of this fog came this booming voice that said 'do you know where you are?'"

"I said 'I hope I'm wrong, but hell?' and the voice boomed back with his maniacal laugh."For what seemed like months, she was tormented by 'demons' in what she described as a 'ruined hellscape' where she recalled being given impossible tasks and being sent to a frozen cabin with the souls of other women.

Then one day everything changed - she recalled ascending to heaven, where she experienced an overwhelming sense of joy and bliss, before meeting her deceased fiance.

He told her it was time to return to Earth - then she woke up.

Not surprisingly, the memories of all of this have had a profound effect on her life.

"I'm certain that I went to that place for [want] of a better word, it was a manifestation that I had because I believed I would," she said.

"So there's been a lot of changes in the way I think, feel and believe."
