New fears for species extinctions

the problem i have with their species extinction prediction is the last one i read. 50 species a day are going extinct that is 50 x 365 x 7 + 50=127,000 plus ever seven years. so how many life forms are on the planet. i know these are just the ones that we have never seen. but anyone can make a claim like that right. and as has been stated on other threads if you can't see them or name them they never existed.

it's funny how those native plants can only grow inside the city and not outside of it in the country.

Do we know what the natural rate is? Is it 10, 5 or 1 per day? How can we know the magnatude of the issue if we do not have a starting point? I thought this applied mostly to developing nations. The US has more land as unused wilderness now then it did 100 years ago.

Yes, but a species single handedly forcing a mass extinction event isn't! that's up for debate. one way or another you always have a dominant species which results in the extinction of another.

Weird. 3 days in a row I have dreamt about talking to animals who knew they were going to die. Last night I dreamt about a tortoise who licked my cheek, and ate fruit I cut from trees. Over time he moved to the sunny side of a hill when I pulled the most fruit from fruit trees. Then I started to walk away and the tortoise rolled over on his back and baked in the sun, falling asleep and sleeping forever. I just found the tortoise in a image of the article I opened. I believe my dreams and the articles that can accompany them. I also think igoogle is badass.
