The planet Jupiter will be particularly bright in the night sky during its closest approach this month.
From September 20th the largest planet in our solar system will be 368 million miles away from us, while it will remain so for the next month the next time it will come this close won't be until 2022.
Stargazers can get a great look at Jupiter on any clear night for the rest of September. The giant planet, always bright, will be especially hard to miss as it approaches closer to Earth than it will at any time until 2022.

i had my telescope out two nights ago looking at Juipter, and even though i must have looked at the planet a hundred times its still amazing, you see photos of Jupiter in books on the web etc. but when you see it with your own eye, it becomes really real if you know what i mean. they say seeing is believing. you could see Io and Europa really good.

Wellll, over in the UFO forum this is an exciting story at the moment. Perhaps they're conencted in some way. I wouldn't like to say how, though. But just bear in mind who it was that suggested it, if it should prove to be an ET advanced base.

I hope I can see it from here, we have so much light pollution, I'm lucky if I can see a full moon!

Been looking forward to this. Darkwind, you should be able to make out 4 moons with a half decent pair of binoculars.
