Anyone suffering from arachnophobia may want to steer clear of Santo Antônio da Platina for a while.

In a scene reminiscent of something from a horror movie, enormous quantities of spiders have been filmed dangling en masse from overhead electrical cables and pylons in Brazil. In the video the sizable arachnids appear to be working together to build a large network of webs.

While it isn't clear what species this is or why there are so many in one place, several known types of spiders have been documented to co-operate and to work in colonies.

Arachnophobes would be wise to steer clear of Santo Antônio da Platina in Brazil. According to a video uploaded to YouTube on Feb. 7, spiders appear have taken to dangling from the city's electric lines and other surfaces.

not sure why it says "raining" more likely they have come from the ground which some human has dug up to build a new supermarket. These poor little creatures have to live somewhere. Good on them, love spiders. PS: it is unlucky to kill a spider.

I've seen first hand both scorpions and black widows high in the rocky mountains of Colorado. Just outside of Salida,CO This creeps me out! Just like the time when I was a kid playing in tall grass near Seattle,WA and all of a sudden I noticed thousands of spiders all crawling through the grass in the same direction.
