Haunted-house chiller 'The Conjuring' may seem far-fetched but does it have any basis in reality ?

The summer movie hit tells the story of the haunting of an 18th century farm house in Rhode Island and is alleged to be based on a true story. In a recent interview, Andrea Perron who grew up in the house depicted in the film has spoken out about her own experiences there and considers the film's story to be "essentially true". Having lived there between 1971 and 1980, Perron has had her fair share of paranormal experiences including an encounter with a potentially otherworldy visitor.

"I walked in with a box from the truck, and I greeted a gentleman that was standing in the dining room, and he ignored me as if I was a ghost," she recalled. "Both sisters saw him too, the two that followed me in, and the third walked into the kitchen and said, 'That man in the dining room just disappeared.' That was our first encounter."

""The Conjuring" is being called the scariest movie of the summer, and last weekend the haunted-house chiller drew more than $41 million at the box office, which was twice its budget, in just three days."

A few friends told me this movie was good.. But I haven't decided on whether or not it's worth seeing.. If you're waffling that much, wait til it's out on DVD.

I thought this was a decent enough film, nicely executed. I'm wondering if the sequel that has pretty much been confirmed will be Amityville, but hopefully not because it's be done enough now. Really, enough!

As a diehard horror movie fan who has watched countless of letdowns over the years, I can tell you this movie scared me. I CAN'T believe more people aren't on board with how great this movie is, yes the story may not be 100% truth, but it's a horror movie. An adaptation. Anytime I watch a movie that says 'based on a true story', I understand that the movie is loosely based, which does not mean 100% fact. Once you can overlook that, and watch the movie for what it is, an adaptation loosely based on truth, you might enjoy it (if you like horror movies, if you are chicken, don't bother). It takes... I saw the movie twice and that 3am devil hour still scares the hell out of me. The film was entertainingly horrifying lol. I don't believe on paranormal but I wouldn't want to be much on denial either, I actually find it funny whenever science tries to explain those kind of events
