Firstly that isn't Mars, it's the Moon. this is a very poor quality image of the patch and the fact that it is the moon would be more obvious if you had chosen a better quality image. The lines connecting the Earth and Moon represent Apollo's flight from the Earth to the Moon and back. The three stars of Orion's Belt are used aligned with the central bar of the "A" toe represent the 3 crew members of an Apollo mission.
