An electrician near Uxbridge, England has photographed a large black panther-like cat near some woods. The picture represents some of the best evidence yet that large predatory cats are alive and well in the wilds of Britain.
A photograph showing a panther-like cat sitting near woodland is the best evidence yet that large animals are roaming the countryside, experts claim. Electrician Paul Keehn, 35, claims he snapped the creature on his mobile phone after spotting it sitting by a fence near residential homes which backed onto woods and fields. "

I think I can see a dog-like muzzle poking out slightly... I don't agree with Miss Di Francis on her suggestion that it's an indigenous species that we haven't discovered yet. Someone would have noticed it at some point in Britain's 14,000 or so years of human habitation, but there's no record of it at all.

I don't understand why the idea that these cat(s) are escaped pets is so hard to grasp.

I agree... it would have been noticed ages ago. I don't understand why the idea that these cat(s) are escaped pets is so hard to grasp. It's not as appealling because it's the common straighforward explanation Why go with a logic answer when you can make a more fancy one up?

It's not as appealling because it's the common straighforward explanation Why go with a logic answer when you can make a more fancy one up? True. x( But something so... obvious... I'm losing faith in humanity.

the problem not only with the blur picture . take a close look at the head to body . it 's unature that the head is all black . at least the eyes should show out . also the trace of someone try paint black over on it . look careful you can see a trace of another color . the lighting also not match with the surrounding. the bur also very bad done. i vote for fake .

Why is it that every time someone takes a picture of something like this, their camera suddenly becomes second rate? A coincidence, I'm sure! Thanks for posting, SW, I agree it's too blurred. It's 60 feet away. That's a long distance with any camera.

Why is it that every time someone takes a picture of something like this, their camera suddenly becomes second rate? A coincidence, I'm sure! Not surprising, it's probably been enlarged or zoomed in on. I'm not saying the photo is genuine for sure-- I have no idea. But I don't think the 'it can't be real because it's blurry' is fair. Try taking a picture of any animal from 100 feet or more with an ordinary camera, then blow it up so you can see the animal - I'd bet it wouldn't be so clear. Or try taking a picture of an airplane flying over your house - again enlarged or zoomed so people can se... [More]

I really hope it is a panther. Having seen mountain lions on hikes, you gain such a respect for these animals. They know you are not a threat and they can easily kill you if they want. Just being outside with big cats is an experience most people will never have. Is it real? I don't know but whatever it is, I wish he could have got a sharper picture of it.

Another possibility is... That it is a Panther... But it's been 'stuffed'... the person put the 'stuffed' panther in that position, then stood far back and took the picture. The 'Panther' is laying in a relaxed position, and it looks like it's at the edge of an open field... I wouldn't have thought that if there was a panther, that it would lay so relaxed in an open field, I would have thought it would be sitting upright on the lookout, so I think it's a dead stuffed cat or panther that has been placed there for the photo.
