For many years now people all over the world have been plagued by an unexplained noise referred to as "The Hum". For some the sound is too much to handle, with everything from power lines to sinister forces being blamed for the mysterious humming.
For decades, hundreds of people worldwide have been plagued by an elusive buzzing noise known as "the Hum". Some have blamed gas pipes or power lines, others think their ears are faulty. A few even think sinister forces could be at work."

I've never really thought about it, but I do hear it sometimes.

Anyone here live near electric towers? I used to live nearby one and they make quite a humming noise. I used to live close by an electrical tower. It was more of a buzzing than the sampled muffled rumbling sound though. I had fun with neon lights when I get close to the compound. There was so much static in the air, the neon light would faintly glow. I'm sure neighbors were scared ****less some foggy nights when they could see what appears to be moving, glowing orbs.

Sounds like it could be a short track from the music genre called "space music", which i sometimes listen to. I might be crazy, but i actually quite like it, very relaxing sound for me. But i guess if it was there constantly, it wouldnt be that great.

Strangely enough, I heard something on Sunday night just as I put the TV and lights off, trying to fall asleep. It first sounded like a tremmor comming from some distance and I was waiting to feel the house shake, but the "shake" never came. The sound got louder untill it sounded like it was right above my house, I tried to listen to it, to try and make out what it sounded like and the best I can describe it is as a low humming or tremmor sound. My dogs also took notice of the sound they started to get excited as soon as the sound started and they were running around the house "investigating".... [More]

I used to hear the Hum (also known as Taos Hum) every night, many years ago. It was a deep, rumbling sound that seemed to come from the depths of the Earth, rising through the ground and erupting in a long, continuous groan. It lasted maybe 10 to 20 seconds each time, and happened between the hours of 1am to 3am. I used to hear the Taos Hum as well, I had suffered from chronic ear infections and doctors insisted it was tinnitus, which even as a kid I knew was a load of bull since I didnt hear the Hum when I was visiting my grandparents in Arizona or anytime I was outside of the Taos area.

The most curious phenomena i see in all this is how all of a sudden since talk and articles about the hum people pop up on forums saying they have been hearing it for years.Yet before these articles came up nobody in these and other forums ever mentioned it and most certaintly not in these numbers. As if millions across the globe could hear it but never talked about it all this time."The power of sugestion" seems to fuel this phenomena more then anything else. ...Obviously im not convinced

I started hearing this low hum two years ago. I have driven my husband crazy with it. He does not hear it. I hear it several times a day or just at night(simple can't sleep while hearing it). I've tried earplugs, head phones, u name it! And the sound is not like a diesel engine to me..unless different type of diesel..cause my husband drives a truck for living and he leaves his truck running when it's cold out. Doesn't come close to the hum sound. I can hear this sound where ever I'm at. Other states, other people's houses etc... I ask people around me, do you hear that humming sound? They just... [More]

I've experienced something similar. Its not quite what's being discussed here, but still worth mentioning. Back in the 1980s I spent a couple of weeks bowhunting alone in the Frenchman River Valley in southwestern Saskatchewan (Canada). I was right on the American border, North Dakota was maybe a half mile from my campsite. This was in late Septemeber/early October and the weather was quite nice until a sudden snowstorm turned everything white. This is pretty wild country, no people, few fences, no powerlines, gas lines, or any other human artifacts. Just cows and the wildlife. Over the course... [More]
