11-year-old helps SETI find aliens

An 11-year-old boy has been assisting SETI in its search for extraterrestrial intelligence when he suggested that they should try transmitting the sounds of nature in to space as part of a kid's science challenge.
The other day, in a beige cubicle at the SETI Institute in Mountain View, a scientist named Kamau Hamilton tapped some numbers into a computer. A giant radio telescope 300 miles away swiveled clockwise in response -- the better to detect a possible extraterrestrial transmission. "
