A 14-year-old boy has been banned from school because he has a moustache, Akaash Iqbal was told to go home and shave before coming back to Manchester Academy due to a strict uniform code. He's now missed two weeks of school.
A boy aged 14 has been banned from school for having a moustache.Akaash Iqbal was told it was against the strict uniform policy at Manchester Academy and he wouldn't be allowed back until he shaved it off.But his father Asif Mahmood branded the move 'nonsense' and insisted he was too young to begin shaving."

Singapore schools are alot worse. Here, girls are banned from keeping short hair (which resemble boys' haircut). Boys cannot have sideburns, and their fringe cannot touch their eyebrows. Girls cannot wear colored bras. Boys cannot have piercings on their ears. Uniforms must be tucked in and 2 centimeters of it must overlap the skirt/pants/shorts. Also, colored/dyed hair is not allowed. Girls cannot use makeup. Boys' hair cannot stand up too high and must be combed down. Permission must be sought for drinking water during lessons. Girls are banned from wearing tight uniforms/skirts. Hair of bot... [More]

Given how most teens in the states dress today when they go to school... It would be a good thing to see uniforms instead. Keep minds *ON* the education that schools are for. Not how hot/****ty someone looks in their outfit today. And again, as for the kid with facial hair.. rules are there for a reason. Besides, he obviously needs to start shaveing now anyways. *zip zop* All I wanted was a clean shave, not a self sacrifice!

Schools continue to get more and more ridiculous all over the world. Public schools make kids wear uniforms where I live, in order to make everyone equal. Equal? That's not equal, it's fascism if anything. They can throw their bs studies at me all they want, most studies are done looking for something to justify uniforms more than not. Ugh, I'm sick of this crap they all spew. Schools need to learn to deal with their egos better- and that's saying something when a SCHOOL has a friggin' ego in the first place. Correction: Communism

suspending a male student for having facial hair is like suspending a girl because she is on her period absolutely ridiculous.....glad we didn't have those kind of rules when i was in high school a few years ago

However, if the father knew about these rules before sending his son to this academy, then he probably should be abiding by them, otherwise he should send his child elsewhere. If the kid did know about the rule for no facial hair, and one day he shows up with a great big giant huge moustache ...wouldn't this be more about obedience rather than a simple moustache? It's like saying "absolutely no top hats" then the next day he shows up wearing a top hat. Being banned is a bit harsh for a moustache alone.

While I think the school is being ridiculous here. A friend of mine had a full beard when we started high school, at 14. Saying 14 is to young to shave is odd IMO.

OMG.. this is sooo silly.. if the child is neat.. and not unkemp..leave him be! Next they will ban those 'one eyebrow' children, and make them shave between the eyes.. or.. woe is me..girls schools will forbid tampons...saying they are to sexual and to use pads only
