Its one of the most untapped sources of energy on the planet but ocean power is about to get a boost as rivals battle it out to develop a means with which to efficiently harness the ocean as a source of clean, renewable energy.
A bout of gawky prototypes have taken to the water for the first time in recent weeks, signalling a new assault on a decades-old problem: how to generate power from the oceans."

This just goes to prove that there are so many sources of alternative energy that carbon based fuels are truly redundant. These initiatives, amongst all the others will free the human race from dependency on national politics in countries that may not share the same philosophies as the rest of the world.

I was watching a show the other day where they put two turbines in New York deep into the river to harvest the tidal energy. It was a significant number of MW. It was kind of cool. A lot more of them could be done.
