New fossil evidence has suggested that some land animals would have survived the end-Permian mass extinction 252 million years ago by moving to Antarctica to take advantage of the cooler climate there.
The largest known mass extinction in Earth's history, about 252 million years ago at the end of the Permian Period, may have been caused by global warming. A new fossil species suggests that some land animals may have survived the end-Permian extinction by living in cooler climates in Antarctica.

they may find atlantis or other lost civilizations some species of early man or homenid that was intelligent and then died out or a completly different species that millions of years ago lived there in a safe haven away from the dinosaurs and didnt explore they just survived there must be wonders uder all that ice but problem is all the melt water and the shifting of the ice shelfs and glaciers might have destroyed alot of the artifacts as ice tends to make even the hardest rock smooth hopefully not though hey
