A leading biologist has stated that the angels, fairies and other winged sprites of nativity and folklore are anatomically flawed and would never be able to fly despite having feathered wings sprouting from their backs.
Angels depicted heralding the birth of Jesus in nativity scenes across the world are anatomically flawed, according to a scientist who claims they would never be able to fly.

This thread is a good test of how seriously people always take anything that comes out of the mouths of scientists, and perhaps an indication that people might not perhaps always consider the possibility that scientists might occasionally come up with a seasonally themed story that's not perhaps intended to be taken absolutely 100% seriously. :-/ Ha! You may also watch this circus when someone starts to talk about deep philosophical importance of Schroedinger's cat No explanations that cats are not the objects of Quantum Mechanics are accepted...

No explanations that cats are not the objects of Quantum Mechanics are accepted... Isn't it obvious that they are? How else would they exist? Or did I interpret what you meant wrongly?

Ha! You may also watch this circus when someone starts to talk about deep philosophical importance of Schroedinger's cat No explanations that cats are not the objects of Quantum Mechanics are accepted... The radioactive decay processes at the center of that thought experiment fall within the category of "objects of QM."

This article is one big cliché. Scientists, who normally don't believe in religion, conduct a study on angels and the possibility of flight. What a waste of money. This is almost as bad as when a university professor did a psychological study on Bugs Bunny, only to conclude to his class that he was in fact gay. While I totally agree with your synopsis of the article, I would like to stress two points: The actual scientific article was a comparison of how artists' depictions of flying creatures corresponded to contemporary knowledge of how flight could be achieved. The ``research'' in question... [More]

This is almost as bad as when a university professor did a psychological study on Bugs Bunny, only to conclude to his class that he was in fact gay. I clearly saw in Space Jam that he was attracted to that female bunny so there...poked a huge hole in your logic Anyway, I totally agree. I do not understand why people waste their money on this type of research. Simply stated, I believe in God and therefore, his creations. Do scientis... [More]

According to a renowned professor, the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly by all the laws of physics. This is true. In any case, angels don't rely on aerodynamic lift, do they; they use some form of anti-gravity propulsion. That's obvious. This is not true in the slightest. Science knows full well how Bumblebees fly. Please stop spreading this ridiculous myth. (http://www.snopes.co.../bumblebees.asp) And of course "Angels" as we know them (from paintings, etc) can't fly; Something of human size, shape and weight would need a ~13-foot wingspan along with much stronger chest muscles, hollow bone...
