A company in Wales has developed light emitting wallpaper in a bid to replace traditional light bulbs with a better energy-saving alternative. The wallpaper uses an electric current to stimulate chemicals that produce light.
Light emitting wallpaper could be developed to replace traditional light bulbs and cut carbon emissions from lighting in the next few years, it has been claimed. A Welsh company developing the technology, which uses an electrical current to stimulate chemicals to produce light, has been awarded a £454,000 grant from the Carbon Trust to help get it into homes, business and on the roads.

Hmm, trying to launch this in a country where a worrying %age of the population is stockpiling high wattage incandescent bulbs because CFL bulbs do not emit enough light... they're also releasing it in a country where people are paying too much for everything

This will definitely, if used right, lead to better use of design and aesthetics when it comes to interior lighting. The possibilities for applications are endless including creating ambient environments in places such as hospitals and shopping establishments.

Not to mention the replacement of overseas holidays. Why fly when you can be in Hawaii in your very living room?
