A new investigation is being conducted on bones thought to be from the victims of Unit 731's hideous experiments.
The infamous Unit 731 conducted hurrendous experiments during World War 2 on live human test subjects from burying people alive to subjecting them to all manner of procedures. Examining the bones of what is thought to be some of the victims of these experiments could help shed light on exactly what went on there.
More than 60 years after the end of the Second World War, the name "Unit 731" still has the power to generate shock, revulsion and denial in Japan.

So all those innocent people who died should be held responsible for that? I think not. How about we just go and wipe out all the Germans? I think that people need to pay for the atrocities of war, but slaughtering innicent people, or calling for the blood, makes you just as bad as them.

It must be remembered that if the bombs where not dropped that many upon many American and Australians would have died . Believe me when I say that the Jap. Imperial Army had no mercy for the innocent. They murdered millions! Have no pity on the wicked minded!

I was actually referring to Professor Glenboys post. I realise that the a bombs did prevent many atrocities, but it was at the cost of innocent lives, something which I feel is being overlooked here.

I personally don't think two nukes were enough, and why did we apologise for droping them? If it stop one more innocent from being raped by a small penised japanese man i feel no regret. That is a very illogical and emotional response. Ironically, it is the kind of attitude that perpetuates atrocity. You can be relatively sure that when japanese "doctors" were putting american airmen into pressure chambers, they were telling themselves that they deserved it because they were dropping firebombs on women and children. Ignorance all around perpetuating more ignorance and death and destruction. On... [More]

Unit 731 was the site of some horrible Japanese experiments. They dissected people ALIVE. Yet, many Japanese military scientists got away without so much as a military trial. Germany is still paying out the wazzoo for their war crimes yet Japan was never required to pay a single cent to the Chinese for their atrocities. Chinese people were not the only ones who were atrociously massacred... Vietnamese, Koreans, Australians, British and French were too, along with Americans.

The last part of the article said: "Most people do not believe it even happened; the rest just want to cover it up and forget about what Japan did during the war," said Tsuyoshi Amemiya, a retired military historian. "Young people don't know and they don't want to know." That statement alone speaks out as to the lack of compassion & conscience some of these people have..... hmmm reminds me of how the Catholic's reacted regarding their crimes.

if you wish to see a well done, documentary style movie about these horrible acts, I would suggest " The men behind the sun", a 1988 Hong Kong film. I should warn you though, this is the most visceral film you will ever see. You should see a new version called the philosophy of a knife its 5 hours long and i assure you mbts is nothing compared to it just search for it on youtube annd watch reveiews trailers etc and if you want to watch it mail me and ill give you the site

Wow amazing story. I have heard about this unit but never really read any articles from trusted sources. It sounds as if they were the cousins of the Nazis "science/medical experiments" so were they funded by Hitler and the Third Reich or completely seperate? Not that it really matters I dont guess but seems odd that once the war had ended we (still to this day) hunted down those responsible for what the Nazis did yet left these savages alone to carry out a long fulfilled life. Why? Just askin...

It must be remembered that if the bombs where not dropped that many upon many American and Australians would have died . It also must be remembered that the Japanese and the Nazis were also working to develop the bomb. Physics had progressed to the point where nuclear weapons were an obvious possibility and there was a race to see who would develop them first.

A few points to ponder: 1. That chart that Search & Rescue members, paramedics, lifeguards and others use to study hypothermia? The one that shows at what body temperature a person will begin to shiver, shiver severely, die? Those figures come directly from Nazi medical experiments in the camps. the Nazis wanted to know, for their sailors and airmen who had to ditch in the sea. Every time I see one of those charts, I feel saddened by how that knowledge was obtained. For what it's worth, the brutal, undeserved deaths of some of the victims were not completely in vain. I know it's a speck of... [More]
