The remains of a dinosaur-like creature dating back 240 million years may change what we know about when dinosaurs appeared.
The remains of Asilisaurus kongwe found in Tanzania indicates that dinosaurs may have been around 10 million years earlier than previously thought.
Scientists have uncovered the bones of a dinosaur-like creature that roamed Earth at least 10 million years earlier than the oldest known dinosaur, according to a recent study.

I think what the article is trying to say is that this find pushes back the origin of dinosaurs further. I see what you are saying, this throws me Scientists have uncovered the bones of a dinosaur-like creature that roamed Earth at least 10 million years earlier than the oldest known dinosaur, according to a recent study. It would seem obvious that dinosauriform's predate Dinosaurs? Maybe the article could have focussed a little more on Silesaurus.

I think your post does not make sense. We have a fossil record. Goes back to the beginning of the earth. here the fossilized ancient Wal Mart? I forgot to take into account that Wal-Marts existed back in 10 000 B.C. when the first permanent human settlements appeared. Oh wait. There's this little thing called plate tectonics, not to mention ice ages, floods, eruptions, gradual erosion, etc. If a bunch of dudes had built a hut 300 million years ago, do you seriously think there would still be a trace of it? Continents have moved, mountains have been wiped off the face of the Earth. We can't eve... [More]

Hell, it might even be at the bottom of the pacific... [More]

LOL, you "alternative" people really get you back up when logic is presented don't you. I find it endlessly amusing. No. I don't think humans are all knowing (not yet anyway), it is just that I can read. And, I do. In fact, I am also quite aware of the process of plate tectonics, and how the present lands were formed, and I do not recall Pangea or any Gondwana being completely destroyed, which is the only way I can see how an entire civilization could be totally lost. The adjective "Gondwanan" is in common use in biogeography when referring to patterns of distribution of living organisms, typi... [More]

I like how you put words in my mouth. I never said there was a civilization before us. I only said that if there had been, we wouldn't know. Of course, you're too busy flattering your colossal ego to mount a logical retort. Hahaha, you know you are entertaining me don't you? I never said you did say that, I just said such a theory is unfounded, you brought up plate tectonics as the reason we would not find traces of past civilizations, I showed you why that is not so. My ego was not on the board, others were - see the links? They came up with the rock solid proof, I merely made you aware that ... [More]

Uh... Not to burst your bubble, but think a bit. If mankind had been wiped out before the 20th century, do you think anything that we built would still be around after 10 million years? Everything would be gone. Even now, if we somehow disappeared off the face of the Earth, the only evidence of our existence would be the artificial materials which exist today that wouldn't decompose over time, such as plastics and radioactive materials. That and some really, really sturdy things, like bunkers. Or a Domino's pizza. Not that I think this proves there was an advanced civilization before mankind. ... [More]

I have to admit to being a little confused. According to Wikipedia, The type species, Silesaurus opolensis, was described by Jerzy Dzik in 2003, most scientists think that Silesaurus was not a dinosaur, but rather a dinosauriform. Dinosaurian features lacking in Silesaurus include an enlarged deltopectoral crest, and epiphyses on the cervical vertebrae. Where's the Dinosaur? Silesaurus was different to what most scientists thought the dinosaur ancestors would be like. Silesaurus had many herbivorous features. The new Ornithodiran finds that came out in nature this February highlights a couple ... [More]
