For years philosophers have speculated over whether or not near death experiences are evidence of life after death.
What happens when we die is probably the greatest mystery of all time, reports of 'tunnels of light' and other marvels from patients who have had near death experiences are considered by some to be evidence that the mind lives on after the physical body dies.
The story of the "death" of the 20th-century philosopher, Alfred Jules (A. J. ) Ayer, is becoming legendary. When the renowned atheist choked on a piece of salmon in 1988 in a British hospital, he went into cardiac arrest and technically died for four minutes.
