Is there life after bodily death?

For years philosophers have speculated over whether or not near death experiences are evidence of life after death.
What happens when we die is probably the greatest mystery of all time, reports of 'tunnels of light' and other marvels from patients who have had near death experiences are considered by some to be evidence that the mind lives on after the physical body dies.
The story of the "death" of the 20th-century philosopher, Alfred Jules (A. J. ) Ayer, is becoming legendary. When the renowned atheist choked on a piece of salmon in 1988 in a British hospital, he went into cardiac arrest and technically died for four minutes.

Falsification of quantum mind and psi actually, both have been assessed in science and dropped, psi is now very much considered a pseudoscience. Matt that is incorrect science has not droped psi. Those who are qualifed to be scientist? Do research on psi. And let us not forget David Bohm as well as others. Now some conservative scientist claim it is pseudoscience. But in relation to the issue at large? I feet that is more related to politics than anything else. Any thoughts?

I already mentioned the book Mindsight. Here's a link too: http://www.near-death.com/experiences/evidence03.html All the evidence in the world will not convince somebody who already has their mind made up. Something about pots and kettles, hmmm...Cant seem to remember it though....

Really? Name me ten universities that still study it. No, it is not conservative science it is real science and not your religious pseudo-science. Over 40 years of study of "the psychic phenomena" (such a impressive phenomena to produce no results) and nothing, says a lot really. Bohm was a quantum physicists, he didn't study psi, he suggested an early idea of quantum mind, but that whole idea is considered to be falsified because the brain just doesn't operate at quantum speeds. Review "alternative psychology" and "awareness" in relation to university's and of course there is Duke. Religious pseudo science also includes your point Matt when it comes to this topic. The brain can do incredible things Matt, but I feel that? One way of looking at it? Was expressed by me on page 2 of this thread. Any thoughts? Well awareness is nothing do with paranormal, and I cannot find alternative psychology anywhere. Would you care to direct me? What exactly are Duke doing? Please, do tell. But I see you failed to name 10 universities. We have been through this before when you lied ab... [More]

This has probably already been said and I see the topic has been quite discussed in detail...but I was too lazy to read eight pages of posts when I only wanted to say one puny, predictably mundane thing. I guess we'll all have to wait and see when the time comes. Because without a bloomin miracle our individual time is coming...for all of us someday. Fingers crossed. Though just to add, I've always thought of our bodies like an operating machine, the energy that surges through it to make it work is like a spirit, our spirit being connected to a source, which when the body becomes nonfunctional... But I see you failed to name 10 universities. We have been through this before when you lied about content in Nature. How is that exactly Triad? Please evidence it. Yes the brain can do incredible things, but that is kind of not the point. You are misusing science to attribute what you want to it as well as misusing question marks. Aha, Thanks for the info Mattshark:)
