Bear killed by hunter may be a rare hybrid

A bear killed by an inuit hunter could be a rare example of a cross between a polar and grizzly bear.
Only one "pizzly" or "grolar" has ever been confirmed in the wild when it was shot in 2006. The peculiar cross occurs in the rare chance that a polar bear and grizzly bear mate in the wild.
An animal shot last week by an Inuit hunter travelling on the sea ice in the High Arctic has sparked debate over whether another polar bear-grizzly hybrid — a so-called "pizzly" or "grolar" — has been discovered.

Anyone who shoots a bear for hunting or sport is a jerk. reminds me of the Worlds oldest living thing. A clam they killed in 2009. After they killed it and took a core sample they declared it the worlds oldest living thing. Wrong. It was, just like the Bear Was a Pizzly, now it's just a stupid stuffed dust collecter and a monument to a retard who can aim.

Don't believe everything the warmists spout. Wait, scratch that. Don't believe ANYthing the warmists spout! "Global Warming" and/or what the actual cause of the Polar Bear decline is should be irrelevant to acknowledging the fact that the populations ARE in a decline. Only one of the 19 recorded Polar Bear sub populations is on the rise. The rest are dropping. And given an animal whose now entering into habitats they have never been in previously. It's not unreasonable to think some kind of change in their natural environment is a major cause, if not THE cause.

WHAT ? people still hunt polar bears? arent they going to be extincted if this goes on Inuits can still hunt polar bears because not only is it part of their culture, they know how to hunt them without hunting them to extinction.

Pizzly bears will probably be on the rise in coming years, if the Grizzlies are moving north. And considering there is no plan for stopping and/or reversing the warming trend, only slowing it down, this crossbreeding, if it were capable of producing fertile animals, would be the way the Polar bears survive.

That leaves the question of whether or not the cross breed is a healthy animal as well. You can cross Lions and Tigers all day, but they are missing important genes that aren't shared by the same sexes in the two species. And of course in that case, only the female cubs are sterile.

Then I guess you'd cross the Liger back with either a female Lion or Tiger, and you'd get a line of one of those animals that had minor traits of both. To draw a parallel, it'd be the Lion/Tiger version of Mulattoes. This means, of course, that if GCC were to drive Polar Bears extinct, it'd create a grizzly line wi... [More]

To draw a parallel, it'd be the Lion/Tiger version of Mulattoes. This means, of course, that if GCC were to drive Polar Bears extinct, it'd create a grizzly line with Polar Bear characteristics coming apparent here and there. Not an inaccurate proposition. The polar bear split from the brown bear lineage is comparatively recent and also indicates that the species has dealt with warmer conditions. There is more in-depth information than the belo...
