A new proposal by several Japanese companies is aiming to put an android on the moon within just 5 years.
The robot named Maido-kun is hoping to hitch a ride on a planned mission to the moon by the Japanese space agency, once there it will walk around on the surface and draw the Japanese flag on the ground in the dust.
A humanoid robot could be walking on the moon – and drawing the Japanese flag on its surface – by 2015, according to a plan proposed by a group of Japanese companies. Experts say wheeled or many-legged robots would be easier to operate on the moon's uneven terrain, but backers of the proposal say a two-legged android would make a bigger splash in the public imagination.

Two legs couldnt be very stable four would make alot more sense. A combination of wheels, legs and arms would be even better, more mobile and able to handle various terrain mobility situations.

No, doesnt seem the japenese want to fully explore and learn all aspects possible, they would rather send a humaniod robot to put up their flag.

and on another note this is why we fail as a society, EVERYONES OUT TO GET THEIRS. If we worked together as a people only god knows where we would be.

Interesting.... Wouldn't like to be them if 2015 came along and the robot just falls over every step it takes Or the robot develops a mind of it's own and runs away Ok, probably not gonna happen, but that would make bigger headlines!!!

I find it amazing to see what great lengths Japanese people would go for their robot fetishes. I hope they make the bot truly human-like though, just as their gynoids are (atleast for the face). A robot instead of a Human hmmmmmmm.... I wonder why???? Fuels the moon hoax theory once again. Only to conspiracists who are still in denial.
