Royal Navy 'does not keep sea monster records'

The Navy's policies on recording sea monster sightings have been released as part of the FOIA.
The policy was revealed when a marine biologist asked if the Navy held records about sea monsters, the official response stated ''The RN (Royal Navy), and MoD in general, does not maintain any form of central repository of information purely devoted to sea monsters."
Sailors can note unusual sightings on the ocean waves in their ship's logs, the Navy said. But they are not required to do so and none of the information is assembled in a central archive devoted to sea monsters.

So... is this were all the Aliens from outer space hang out, knowing that there's no real collected data they can cruise the ocean waves and fear no intervention from us lot!

You can see why the MoD is more eager to record UFO sightings than it is to record sightings of sea monsters. Some UFOs may pose a risk to national security, but it's highly unlikely than any sea monsters could pose a risk.

Sea monster coverup. They know more than they will admit. I heard they found a sea monster that they are using for spying on the Nigerians. *wants to see what it's like to throw rocks from the other side of the street* Nibs

Oh, does not keep sea monster records. I thought it meant that someone had claimed that they were keeping a sea monster as a pet somewhere.

Well, a giant oarfish (or a King of herrings) was found by a Swedish fisherman this month. It was only 3 meter long (9.84 feet), they are known to be up to 11 meters (36.09 feet) long. But they are somewhat rare and looks like a chapter out of Jules Vernes : Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, so I would say they qualify as a sea monster. So, no cover up going on in Scandinavia at least. (PS: This is not that particular fish, but from the same species) Here is a larger one, caught by some US Navy SEAL trainees in late 1996 on the coast of Coronado, California

MistyDawn, there's a good interview here about the USO subject and it's said that about fifty percent of UFO sightings are connected with the world's oceans - there's also an interesting article about the Pentagon and the Office of Naval Intelligence being aware of the 'marine aspect' of the UFO subject all along. Interview with Carl Feindt ~ the UFO/Water connection Cheers.

So now negative news are also worth publishing? I'm expecting a torrent of news items like this in the future. "US Army doesn't record Elvis sightings" "Barack Obama never wanted to find the Loch Ness Monster" "It's almost certain that Britney Spears does not own a Chupacabra" Give me a break...
