It might be dismissed as science fiction but invisibility is a technology that is slowly becoming a reality.
For the past few years scientists have been making increasingly large strides in developing technology that can render an object invisible by steering light around it. But how far has it really come and will we ever see a Harry Potter style invisibility cloak ?
The "invisibility cloaks" being made in labs today can hide objects when viewed from a wide range of directions and in visible light – both considered implausible developments when the first working invisibility cloak was demonstrated just four years ago.

All I can say is what is there purpose in this new technology?I can imagine it not being used for good, esp if it fell into the wrong hands.

Like with all new technologies, military gets it first... liberty disappeared the day automatic weapons were sold to army and forbidden to the public, taking over the equalizer..

It'd be used for intelligence work, and privacy screens. Think of expanding the technology here. . . a fence is fine and good, but only if no one can see over it. You expand this technology to cast a dome of invisibility over your home, you get a lot more privacy.
