Archimedes's flaming cannon reconstructed

Did Greek inventor Archimedes build a pressurized steam cannon to fire projectiles at Roman ships ?
Did the ancient Greek inventor Archimedes build a solar-powered steam cannon that fired flaming projectiles? That's the suggestion of an Italian engineer who has come up with a design for such a weapon.

I loved this story as a kid. I always thought he used like 100 soldiers holding 100 mirrors to burn down the ships. Love the whole concept of ancient machines.

(are you biased with these opinions?...lol) The Romans couldn't have been that impressed/scared as they took the city anyway.
