An atheist group has held a "de-baptism" ceremony using a blow-dryer to reverse the baptisms of non-believers.
Wielding a blow-dryer, a leading atheist conducted a mass "de-baptism" of fellow non-believers and symbolically dried up the offending waters that were sprinkled on their foreheads as young children.

Same here in England. It's quite rare for a conversation to come up about religion. No billboards, no pressure. It's pretty relaxed and people keep themselves to themselves. Yup it seems to be a good balance so far. Plus we don't have a lot of religion in politics here. It's different then the states where hell would have to freeze over befor an atheist got in office lol.

I'll post in the Spirituality Vs Skeptism threads and will also post on some Atheistic/Religious forums. I can get very strong in my opinions in these venues and have had some wonderful heated debates. I'll also giggle, laugh and tease in these debates but I try to NOT make it personal. But these areas are designed for this type of behavior and actions. IRL I don't stand out on the street in front of churches and argue with everyone. I don't go door to door to condemn anyone for their beliefs. I don't freak out if some one says to me "bless you" when I sneeze or that they will pray for me. My ... [More]

Edmonton, my arch enemy (hockey wise lol) well not anymore they are pretty bad now but they do have the largest mall in the world or 2nd not sure. To be honest I have never heard of a persons faith being made an issue in our elections. I have a feeling that the first to make religion an issue would be the pick to lose. People don't care for the mix and it shows because we just don't see it here.

It's what is called a silent issue. Because a person's faith is very important to people. After all, for the common citizen, if you don't vote according to your faith then how can you know if the person you voted for will have your best interests in mind? An atheist, according to these kinds of people, can never understand a theist's interests because they just don't know God and therefore can not be trusted to be moral and do the right thing.

I'm thinking I am very lucky to live in one of the most progressive cities in the US. I can't imagine that happening to anyone, Nibs. People like that shouldn't be able to call themselves Christians.

I live just north of "Focus on the Family" land and south of "Crazy Liberal Hippy" land. Heck, some of these people shouldn't be called human. I don't care what a person's belief is (unless it's in a debate setting or I'm being attacked) as long as they are kind. Nibs

Here religion is expected to keep it's agenda or motives out of policy making and if we feel one is not doing that, they hear about it. Even by people of similar faith. Decisions made by a person because of there personal faith will insure they don't last long. They can chant and play with snakes even worship the devil but they better check it at the door when they get to work. At least thats how I see it for the most part. State elections are coming up soon and at first I wanted to eliminate anyone that mentioned being a Christian, but I'd have to eliminate everyone.

State elections are coming up soon and at first I wanted to eliminate anyone that mentioned being a Christian, but I'd have to eliminate everyone. LOL our mayor just stepped down so we will be having to vote on that pretty soon. About 12 people have thrown there hat into the riding and I think we have 2 Muslims, 2 Sikhs, 1 Jew, and the rest could be anything LOL One Guy MacCiver is an atheist and he is actually favored to win. I know it's just a mayor thing but think of the town I live in. We are Canada's version of Dallas Texas the most conservative City in all of Canada maybe tied with Edmon... [More]
