Controversy has surrounded a Canadian Anglican church after a vicar gave Holy Communion to an Alsation called Trapper.
"The minister welcomed me and said come up and take communion, and Trapper came up with me and the minister gave him communion as well," said Mr Keith, the owner of the dog. The move has sparked numerous complaints from Christians all over the country.
The priest gave the Host – considered by Christians to represent the body of Jesus Christ – to an Alsatian cross called Trapper. St Peter's Anglican Church in Toronto has since been deluged complaints from Christians all over Canada.

This was so unnecessary. I saw a fine documentary by Disney that clearly showed that dogs go to heaven with or without communion. lol me too!! It was a Don Bluth/United Artists film though Seriously if there are no pets allowed in heaven then I aint going!!

lol me too!! It was a Don Bluth/United Artists film though Seriously if there are no pets allowed in heaven then I aint going!! Ha, that reminds me of the concession I was given in Confirmation class. I managed to get them, by quoting St. Francis of Assisi, the Bible, and with scientific evidence, to admit that IF, and only IF, it was necessary for a person to have animals present in order to be in their personal heaven, then they would be there. It's not much though, because they claimed that they would pretty much be automatons, and not real animals. Only there for your pleasure, not their o... [More]

a biship in a christian church? Some people dont know that christians dont have Biships or priests.those fools are catholic.Who cares if a dog took communion,it doesnt mean a thing. What gets my goat is how some people cant tell the differents between a Catholic and a christian, here let me help you,Catholics worship IDOLS,christians worship god"sometimes" when they arent gripping how your dressed.I find both to be a waste of time. One worships Idols and took words out of the word of God and put their own words in and the other judges people just to make them feel good about themselves. Both full o... I dont think this would have been seen as such a big deal by the most of the congregation as Anglicans it is seen that the bread and wine are seen as symbols of the body and blood of Christ, rather than actually being transformed. Although I can see why some would be bothered by it , I think it was a nice way to welcome him into the church, and I reckon if Jesus were about he would have done the same thing. Of course then a dogs a mans best friend and dog spelt backwards is God. LOL Thats what I think too. I think it sounds like a fun church to be at and light hearted. aH HUH!!! HE LOVED ALL..... [More]

This is why christians are upset. Jesus at the Last Supper, took wine, bless it and gave thanks to His Father, and told the apostles Drink this, this is my blood, and later He took the bread, blessed it and told the apostles, to eat the bread, it was His body, the bread of the new and everlasting covenant, and that they should do this in memory of Me. Jesus gave up His body and blood ,His life to redeem us from sin,not dogs, cats, hyenas, etc.Just human beings created in the image of His Father. The minister could have given the dog a biscuit instead. Can you prove that? For all we know, maybe Je... [More]

Why can't the dog play swallow the leader too?

Can you prove that? For all we know, maybe Jesus DID mean for animals as well. After all, are animals not blessed with intelligence as well? I see no problem with allowing the dog to take communion. Many domesticated animals are MUCH smarter than they are given credit for. Some interesting, at the least, articles: http://www.thenazareneway.com/Biblical_Opposition_to_Flesh_Eating.htm http://www.thenazareneway.com/the_sanctity_of_nature.htm (though I only see quotes from their Christian sect, from their book, "The Gospel of the Holy Twelve", all the quotes are beautiful) http://www.thenazarenewa... Why can't the dog play swallow the leader too? That's awesome, I love it. I had to mention it, sorry for derailing the thread further.

That's awesome, I love it. I had to mention it, sorry for derailing the thread further. I quoted this one. It's much shorter. That, and I liked that little post too. I'm not particularly religious anymore. I am one of the many that the church in itself drives away. However, if creatures are part of God, is that not all the more reason to allow them to take communion? And animals sin. They attack people. Sometimes kill.
