Any life that existed here 3.9 billion years ago would have been wiped out in a massive asteroid bombardment.
A new study of Moon craters has revealed the extent of the cataclysmic bombardment during the solar system's "turbulent youth", any life that might have arisen on Earth at that time would have been wiped out.
Any life which may have existed on Earth 3. 9 billion years ago would have been wiped out in a devastating asteroid strike, new analysis of Moon craters indicates.

It might seem planned, but that's a misconception that you have because of the simple fact that you DO exist. The universe didn't have to be this way. Those planets didn't have to be there. If they weren't, though, then you simply wouldn't exist. You wouldn't be saying "I wish that we had two big planets to protect us, so that we could have evolved into existence. Too bad, eh?" You exist, through chance, and thus can question your existence. If you didn't, you couldn't. But just because the chances contrived to allow your existence doesn't mean that it was planned, or the chances were manipula... [More]

With all respect D-L, how can you claim this is a misconception? Certainly, you may have a differing belief on the matter - as is your right. But he shares the same right, as do we all. Who is to say that the chance you describe is not itself designed? No, you mistake me. I'm not saying it is not designed by something, or that it is necessarily only the product of chance. That's not the point at all. I'm saying that just because we exist, just because the possibilities converged to allow our development, does not necessarily mean that something either controlled this convergence or designed ou... I'm saying that just because we exist, just because the possibilities converged to allow our development, does not necessarily mean that something either controlled this convergence or designed our developemnt. Sure, those are possibilities. But our mere existence is not proof for these possibilities. Something definately COULD have designed us or controlled all the events that led to us. But us existing is not itself proof for that kind of idea... [More]

Thanks for clarifying D-L, apparently I misunderstood your intention. No problem at all; my pleasure, indeed. I'm glad to have been able to have been of assistance.

It might seem planned, but that's a misconception that you have because of the simple fact that you DO exist. How come it seems as if you are following me around and anytime I post ANYTHING about my faith, you say it's a misconception?

How come it seems as if you are following me around and anytime I post ANYTHING about my faith, you say it's a misconception? Honestly, Cpt., I'm not following you around. I just like to post in a variety of topics, similar to how you do. If I notice logical errors in thought, I am keen to point them out; it's the only way we can grow as individuals and as a species. I'm sorry if you feel I'm singling you out, I'm not, and I actually do like you. I'm just not going to let that get in the way of logical thought. In this case, in this thread, I was dealing with legitimate illogic. It is a logica... [More]
