Altered image sparks conspiracy claims

An image of Saturn's moons altered by NASA has gained significant attention by conspiracy theorists.
While the picture is believed to have been changed due to the way the Cassini spacecraft takes photographs conspiracy theorists remain unconvinced. Youtube user "DominatorPS3" who uploaded a video demonstrating the modifications stated that this constitutes "more solid proof of NASA/ government coverups".
A video posted on YouTube yesterday showed how an image of Saturn's moons Dione and Titan, taken by NASA's Cassini orbiter, had been Photoshopped before being added to a Picture of the Day website.

Quarantine? And you believe this because of that link you provided with someone claiming to be an alien? I'm just asking to be sure that I don't misunderstand... You actually believe this? I think he does. Good grief. How do people set aside rational thinking?

UM ever remains entertaining. Apologies for the double post. The edit button seems missing at the moment (maybe I'm just tired enough to be turning retarded) and I've been waiting for someone else to post so I could add another heh. But anyway In regards to the color of the moon, while I still see no purpose or motive for such a thing. And I'm not saying I necessarily believe the notion is accurate. I've still been thinking about that. And the idea seems to be looking at it backwards to me. The evidence is largely that pictures from space can see the earth in full color when they are close to ... [More]

::edit:: and I can edit this one... weird. Can a mod kill that last post? You have one hour to edit posts, after that hour it becomes a permanent record. I wish I'd think about that more when I'm making posts. There are a few that I would tweak or get rid of entirely...

and whats your take on this one.... My link For someone used with Photoshop, I think the images were altered. Right above the astronaut to the right, there is an area with high pixel repetition. Also, there is a small rock where the shadow is displaced in relation to the other picture. Look closely and you can see innumerous clone stamped regions repeating the same pattern, that is: 1- Cover up of some sort (Not alien specifically). 2- Bad photoshop skills.

It's simple. With the right conditions, light can be very illusionary. For instance, just watch the Mythbuster's Moon hoax episodes. I think the OPs original pic can be easily explained by an expert in light/shadow casting. If you are taking time lapsed photos, especially with different filters, shadows can appear to move, only because of their color in relation to the angle. It's all an illusion. Besides, what would be the motive of moving a rock a couple inches to the right or left? Maybe to cover up a prop serial number?
