Does Mayan calendar really end in 2012 ?

The only people still pushing the 2012 solar maximum as some catastrophic events are fringe writers and their minion. But remember the expected average event does not preclude out of the ordinary big events. And it works the other way as well. the Mayans did not say anywhere, that 2012 was the end of the world, there may be many theory's about why there calender ended on that date, but none of them say that the end of the world will happen on that date, that is all speculation, don't people know that the Mayans mysteriously disappeared and abandoned their city's? i personally think that the reason there calender ends on that date is because it was not finished and when they disappeared, so did the people making the calender.

Even so, no one ever think of just cancel the end of world. Why can't we accept that the world would just keep going like it is?
