Does Mayan calendar really end in 2012 ?

A new book argues that the conversions of Mayan dates may be off by as much as 100 years.
If so then the concept of the end of the world being in 2012 is also inaccurate, even if we were to accept that something will happen the exact date could be out by almost a century and might have already passed.
The Mayan calendar was converted to today's Gregorian calendar using a calculation called the GMT constant, named for the last initials of three early Mayanist researchers.

The only people still pushing the 2012 solar maximum as some catastrophic events are fringe writers and their minion. But remember the expected average event does not preclude out of the ordinary big events. And it works the other way as well. Just because a maximum is expected to be stronger on average doesn't mean it will have any extra large events. actually it was not pushed back it estimated time is end of 2012 beginning of 2013. and it has been speculated that its gonna be both stronger than average and below average but that all depends on what scientist you find more believable.. but i... the Mayans did not say anywhere, that 2012 was the end of the world, there may be many theory's about why there calender ended on that date, but none of them say that the end of the world will happen on that date, that is all speculation, don't people know that the Mayans mysteriously disappeared and abandoned their city's? i personally think that the reason there calender ends on that date is because it was not finished and when they disappeared, so did the people making the calender.

From May 2009 we learn New Solar Cycle Prediction An international panel of experts led by NOAA and sponsored by NASA has released a new prediction for the next solar cycle. Solar Cycle 24 will peak, they say, in May 2013 with a below-average number of sunspots. The most recent prediction is that the next solar maximum is well into 2013.

Good news for some, bad news for other, no newe for me. All I know is we have lots of hypes and theories of the end of world in the past but every one of them keep postponing. Even so, no one ever think of just cancel the end of world. Why can't we accept that the world would just keep going like it is? I am dead sure there will be the end of me, but the end of the world? ha, really don't think I could see it.
