In the future vehicles could be made up of parts built using mushrooms and other organic materials.
The strange revelation is part of research in to developing more sustainable car parts that don't use petroleum plastics but instead take advantage of natural materials to produce greener 'bioplastics'. The technology has now advanced to the point where such materials constitute a viable alternative.
In the future, mushrooms may be as common in cars as they are on pizza. Believe it or not, scientists who are trying to find more sustainable ways to build car parts believe the answers may be found in things such as mushroom roots.
