I don't know how much weight I would give to that particular article. Could some of it be true? Sure. Is all of it true? Unlikely. One must take care with articles slapped together for distribution on the internet. Very true. It nevertheless offers an intriguing angle on the true definition of Hawass's "Body of Work".

Idiotic internet crapola put out by people too stuopid and lazy to even attempt to find out why Hawass and the "mainstream" are correct. Harte

I'm surprised and saddened to read of Mr. Hawass resignation. He's a prominent figurehead when it comes to anything on History or Discovery channel, regarding ancient Egypt and antiquities. As for the smuggling accusation, I don't think he would dishonor his reputation, his career or his nation in such ways. However, if someone in a regime needs a scapegoat, given Mr.Hawass position, he's the ideal candidate for it all to land on. I wish him all the best. He's the only man I can remember who ever represented to the viewer audience, the ancient artifacts of Egypt's magnificent history. I do wis... [More]

Tan that's a picture of the northern compared to the southern shaft. No secret conspiracy.

For now I have to remain suspicious of this "conspiracy." Although I looked, I couldn't find a legitimate news outlet reporting the story. All I noticed were forums with a conspiracy-theory bent and web articles of dubious provenance and intent. Moreover, as Aus pointed out, there is more than one air shaft in the Great Pyramid. Throughout the course of the Upuaut Project (1992-1993) the robots explored all four of the shafts, which is how we now understand as much as we do about their interiors. The photos in these questionable web articles seem merely to be of different shafts. A number of d... [More]

Speaking of twaddle... What is this about a conviction with a year sentence, and then an appeal with no time to serve. This is concerning hawass.

Speaking of twaddle... What is this about a conviction with a year sentence, and then an appeal with no time to serve. This is concerning hawass. I don't know much about it but it appears to be based in fact, from what I've been able to determine. It has to do with a lawsuit over land usage involving some book shop. I was reading a little about it in a NY Times article online. Google it and you should be able to get some information.
