Secret memo reveals JFK interest in UFOs

President John F Kennedy requested information on UFOs just ten days before he was assassinated.
Conspiracy theories have been flying since the revelation which some see as evidence that Kennedy was killed to stop him learning the truth about UFOs. "One of his concerns was that a lot of these UFOs were being seen over the Soviet Union and he was very concerned that the Soviets might misinterpret these UFOs as U.S. aggression, believing that it was some of our technology," says author William Lester who received a copy of the documents from the CIA.
An uncovered letter written by John F Kennedy to the head of the CIA shows that the president demanded to be shown highly confidential documents about UFOs 10 days before his assassination.

Why should we have to ask William Lester anything? I mean you are the one making the claims, so why can't you ask him and get the evidence? Plus I think it's up to reporters to ask Lester such questions. I don't know him from Adam. Of course, maybe they've already done all that. Certainly there were a lot of stories about it on the Internet. He said he filed a FOIA request with the CIA and got it, and I see no reason to doubt that. This document was well known for many years.

I wouldn't be surprised. It just seems that you're here 24/7. I mean, they must sleep sometime down there in Australia or wherever you are. Yeah, I'm here 24/7. Maybe I'm logging in from a super secret moon base. Or even better, I'm logging in from BIO Station Alpha on Mars. Yeah, that's where I probably am. Yeah, I'm here 24/7. Maybe I'm logging in from a super secret moon base. Or even better, I'm logging in from BIO Station Alpha on Mars. Yeah, that's where I probably am. Now you know good and well we beam you up daily to UM through the Zeta Reticuli mars base! Don't tell everyone mate. I've grown quite fond of the Martian soil face masks. They bring out a very special glow in my skin! And I would hate to lose my tenure over something so trivial as exposing the truth.

By the way, NSAM 271 was not the last one issued by JFK. On November 13, 1963, he issued NSAM 272, which concerned safety rules for nuclear weapons systems. http://www.jfklibrary.org/Asset-Viewer/GRGH_0suEE-s1kJhjgjEbA.aspx That was the last one, and the next, NSAM 273 of November 26, 1963, was the first issued by the LBJ administration. Now you know good and well we beam you up daily to UM through the Zeta Reticuli mars base! That explains it. I've heard that they are not exactly on a 24-hour day there. Of course with two suns it must be hard to tell the right time anyway.

CIA, Studies in Intelligence, No. 1, 1997, contains a number of articles including a memorial to William Colby, and a review of CIA efforts to repress reporting on UFOs. In April 1977, the White House had already determined, through questions put to the CIA, a great deal of information about UFOs was being withheld. Using the office of the Press secretary Jody Powell, the White House released a bomb-shell about possibly revealing some of the secrets.
