China's most renowned astronaut Yang Liwei has called for future cooperation between the two countries.
While efforts have been made over the last ten years to undertake joint space ventures between China and the US, difficulties stemming from economic, diplomatic and security tensions have hampered progress. "I think the two countries should proactively implement the intent expressed in the joint communique to eliminate obstacles and promote exchange and cooperation in our space programs," said Liwei.
China's most renowned astronaut said on Friday his country and the United States should make good on their presidents' promises to cooperate in space.

Okay, here I go making people angry but here it is...I am angry we are in dept to the Chinese gov no. 1. I do not want the US to go even deeper with this country given the way they suppress their good people. They jail them without cause and watch over every move the common man or woman does. We should have no ties with this government until they begin giving the population basic human rights.

We did it with the Soviets during the Apollo-Soyuz project, so why not do it here? This would be an opportunity to show our good will through cooperation. Space belongs to no one as of yet, so once atmosphere is broken the flags should stand down. Not getting political here, although the post has political undertones at its core. Just feel that we should cooperate with all nations in space and stop being so damn paranoid.

The USA thinks it alone has the right to steal from others get over it instead thinking economicly it is wallowing in it's politcal obsessions and it's need of a boggeyman it should instead join with other countries in scientific endeavours saving money, time and reinventing the wheel grow up.

I think there should be an international space agency in which all countries cooperate. In fact, I think nothing is going to be more imporatnt than this in the future: it will be absolutely vital that we all cooperate in space matters. Yes, I definitely think someone else is "out there", too, and so do many other people.

I think there should be an international space agency in which all countries cooperate. An international space agency would have some benefits but if it was in place of existing national agencies it is likely to be problematic. A co-operative international agency could achieve much, in fact the European Space Agency (ESA) shows what can be achieves by such co-operation. However Individual nations have individual goals, space exploration is no different. That is why most of the major players within ESA (including France, Italy, UK, Germany) also have national agencies. Having said that I am not... [More]

They've got the money, we've got the know-how, why the heck not! Politics doesn't have to be an obstacle to scientific advancement.
