Clovis comet theory crashes

A new theory claiming that a comet caused the demise of the Clovis people comes under critics' fire.
Three scientists in California and Arizona are asking the broader archaeological, historic and scientific communities to put aside their doubts and accept their theory with regard to how the Clovis people (who lived in the Southwestern United States) were wiped from the face of the Earth. Despite a scientist who wasn't truthful about his identity and in the face of contradicting evidence, these three men maintain that they are right and that everyone else is wrong.
It seemed like such an elegant answer to an age-old mystery: the disappearance of what are arguably North America’s first people. A speeding comet nearly 13,000 years ago was the culprit, the theory goes, spraying ice and rocks across the continent, killing the Clovis people and the mammoths they fed on, and plunging the region into a deep chill.

Did you read the article of the opening post?? Yes, a bit off topic but the article doesn't address the possibility of a sizable meteorite or comet hitting the earth in the future, which is what I was getting at.

Yes, a bit off topic but the article doesn't address the possibility of a sizable meteorite or comet hitting the earth in the future, which is what I was getting at. But you suggested these events occur pretty frequently, and then you post a link to the Clovis comet, the same thing that got debunked in the opening article. So how is this frequent?
