US intelligence aims to use the nuances of language to reveal who may be a potential enemy.
English is a difficult language to master and the US intelligence community is betting on that difficulty in its latest battle against terrorism. A little known agency is creating a database of metaphors and will use it to determine someone's threat level based on their choice of metaphor.
A little-known agency is developing The Metaphor Program to "reveal the underlying beliefs and world-views of members of a culture" by examining the subtle differences in their choice of metaphors.

Well this might give a clue to members of a culture, however i would put my money on the spoken word and listen out for their accents.

"A little known agency".............hmmm. Now why would that be not for public consumption? Guess I better quit mixing my metaphors.

Great, just another reason for them to try and monitor people's lives. Having recently moved to sweden I know full well how difficult an alien language can be and I'll fudge my way through whenever possible. Maybe a miss-used word could get me in a little trouble if they bring this nonsense over. *facepalm*
