Space hotel plans announced

Russia has revealed plans for an orbiting space hotel that is due to open as early as 2016.
The hotel would offer 5-day stays for around £100,000 with a travel cost of £500,000 aboard a Soyuz rocket. It's aimed at the very wealthy and to private companies with an interest in conducting research in space.
Tiring of the annual two-week break in a Med hot spot? Fed up with overcrowded resorts with no room to move? Then how about a real get-away-from-it-all holiday with plenty of space – in space?

This is one hotel that's truly out of this world. A Russian company has revealed plans and sketches for a space hotel -- and it'll cost you. The hotel, designed by Russian firm Orbital Technologies, will accommodate seven guests in four cabins. It will take two days on board a Soyuz rocket in order to reach it. http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/08/17/russia-reveals-plans-for-space-hotel-1m-per-room/#ixzz1VIoweG7y

Oh yeah, just what we need, more space debris. I can see it now, frozen turds drifting around in orbit, along with Pepsi cans and candy wrappers. A little fly by chinese noodle stand or hot dog stand. Just another orbital strip mall.

Yeah, next thing you know they'll be launching themselves into orbit while cryonically frozen. Where did I see that before? lol You know how sailing ships get all cruddy with barnacles, mold, dirt, and general sea funk over time? When we eventually get to space with our own craft, let's hope its not a similar type of experience with all that junk floating around up there already. If we ever manage to come up with a means of interplanetary travel, you know some aliens will be like /facepalm.

If I had that much money burning a hole in my pocket I'd go for it in a heartbeat. Even for a short stint it would be worth it for the views and experience. Besides, the mile high club may have been fun to join, but to join the 217 mile high club would be priceless...

Yeah, I can't even imagine what zero G would be like. Speaking of sex in space, here is one of the worst documentaries I have ever seen. "From the sex act through birth, look at how the extreme environments of space exploration might affect copulation, conception and developing human tissues, as well as how issues around sex might impact the emotional lives of astronauts." OK so I can see there being issues with a developing human in space and even the emotional aspect (but come on, they are astronauts, they're the crème de la crème, I'm sure they could maintain a 'friends with benefits' rel... LOL, ok, I just had to watch this, thanks Timonthy, had no idea they even made a documentary about it.

Imagine the hotel clerks surprise when Mr. And Mrs Zorb from the Betelgeuse star system check in.

I thought it was a good documentary. Sex in space is naturally going to have to be addressed.

I thought it was a good documentary. Sex in space is naturally going to have to be addressed. My internet connection sucks so I can't watch it. But has anyone actually ever tried it. I mean we have sent men and women into space together. Surely somebody would have wanted to be the first to do it by now.
