New research has suggested that Mars would have once enjoyed earthlike conditions for short periods.
The research is based on data obtained from studies of a four-billion-year-old Martian meteorite that shows evidence of minerals that could have only formed if the temperature was a lot warmer than it is on Mars today. "It's proof that early in the history of Mars, at least one place on the planet was capable of keeping an Earthlike climate for at least a few hours to a few days," said John Eiler.
Mars once had 'earthlike' conditions for at least a few hours a day, according to new research. The findings make it more plausible that the planet could have supported life, though if the warm temperatures were only temporary that still remains unlikely.
