After his death Alan Billis was mummified in the same way as the ancient Egyptians for a TV show.
Pioneering scientist Stephen Buckley spent 20 years learning the secrets to the Egyptian mummification procedure so that he could reproduce the technique. "I think he's on the road to looking very much like the best of the best of the 18th Dynasty in 3,000 years' time," he said following the process which took a whole three months to complete.
A taxi driver who wanted to be mummified for a television documentary so he could be remembered as “Tutan-Alan” has described his desire to be embalmed for future generations.

It's not the first time in 3000 years. There is a mummy in the San Diego Museum of Man right now by the name of 'Mumab' that was mummified in the past few years using ancient Egyptian techniques.

It seems these days you can get away with lies by saying "the first, the only, rare, never before seen" and not too many people notice!

It's been done several times in the last fifty years, to say nothing of the last 3,000. The comment about cracking one of the last secrets of the pharaohs is bull also, the procedure has been known for a very, very long time. I suppose one must do what one can to attract readers in the cut-throat world of journalism, today. Edited to add: the telegraph is very lucky not to have a comments section. Perhaps this is for a reason...
