A UK railway station was temporarily closed after reports that there was a lion on the tracks.
The alert was raised after a local called the police to report witnessing a lion and her cub outside a nearby pub. "Passengers are currently unable to alight from trains at Shepley due to reports by police of a lion in the area," said the announcer. Despite a sweep of the area involving a dozen police officers and a helicopter no sign of any lions could be found.
Shepley station closed and rail pasengers unable to alight after police reports of a lion on the line. As wild excuses for rail delays go, it has to take pride of place. Rail passengers were alarmed to be told that a station had been closed because of reports that a lion was on the loose.

I thought if all the big cats released during the 70's would have died of old age. For a litter of cubs to have been spotted then would it mean 3rd generation lions?? I suppose if a colony of Wallabies live out on the Moors then its not beyond the realms of possibility that there could be lions. Lions no but almost certainly we have some big cats in this country and closer to you than you may realise...a sheep carcass was found in Ravensworth in North Yorkshire with all the meat licked from its bones....and all that was done overnight ruling out any native animal.

A big panther-like cat has been spotted on the Isle of Anglesey, the island which our future King and Queen William and Catherine are living on. Wills serves at RAF Valley on the island as a Sea King rescue helicopter pilot. 10/24/2011 A PANTHER-like big cat is said to be roaming the island home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Farmer John Hughes, 65, claims to have seen it eight times, the last when it attacked one of his rams. He said: “It was biting its neck. I shouted and then it ran off. I’ve seen it jump hedgerows with ease – no ordinary cat could do that.” Another spotter... [More]

I live in lowestoft, and a llama was recently found not far from here, ripped up and dragged over a 6ft fence In modern Britain you can never tell if a wild animal has done that or if some feral young thugs have done it. Many British kids never days will get some sort of perverse pleasure in ripping up a llama on a Saturday night.

Many British kids never days will get some sort of perverse pleasure in ripping up a llama on a Saturday night. We would need more info on this case, I am sure there would be a world of difference between a llama killed and mutilated by thugs and a wild big cat attack. Though I think it is very important to study and question the evidence, I also think we are far to quick to say 'Must be dogs, evil kids or poachers'.

In modern Britain you can never tell if a wild animal has done that or if some feral young thugs have done it. Many British kids never days will get some sort of perverse pleasure in ripping up a llama on a Saturday night. Well, maybe, nothing would surprise me. But llamas are pretty damn big, not opposed to defending themselves, and I wouldn't fancy trying to bring one down and drag it over a fence! Unfortunately, I don't know much about the case, I have a friend on FB who has been into the big cat thing in this area for many years and he posted it a few weeks back. He's utterly convinced we ... Another sighting on Saturday with a dubious picture. Tamworth Sighting

Another sighting on Saturday with a dubious picture. Tamworth Sighting The effect is 'pregnant tabby'; but a Scottish wildcat looks pretty much like a domestic cat, only bigger, so one could easily be called 'dog sized'. The problem with that is their restricted range (Scottish highlands); but cats do roam.

Another sighting on Saturday with a dubious picture. Tamworth Sighting There *is* firm evidence of big cats in UK woodlands. A dutch team went and obtained samples from where a leopard was repeatedly sighted. DNA analysis from the experts confirmed it's identity.
