A snake-like creature has been filmed moving slowly through a frozen glacial lake in Iceland.
Some believe the video to show evidence of the legendary Lagarfljotsormurinn, Iceland's answer to the Loch Ness Monster. In the video the serpent-shaped object appears to slink steadily through the icy waters, could this be a strange new undiscovered species or is there a more conventional explanation ?
Lagarfljotsormurinn is Iceland’s equivalent to Scotland’s Loch Ness monster. It was first mentioned in sources dating back to 1345. According to legend, it was at first a tiny worm which was placed on a ring of gold to make the gold grow.

The original film maker has already stated that it was plastic and fishing net in the river. He filmed it and it eventually let go in the current and broke up. This was in one of the news articles, but in order for it to become sensationalist has since disappeared and we're left with quote snippets and edited video.

Hjörtur says that he noticed the ‘monster’ in the river from his kitchen window and continued ... [More]
