The case of Katharina Henot who was burnt at the stake in 1627 has been re-opened this week.
Originally accused of practicing black magic, Katharina was arrested, tortured and paraded through the streets of Cologne before being tied to a stake and set on fire. Between the 14th and 19th century over 25,000 people in Germany alone were thought to have suffered a similar fate. Katharina's case is being re-examined mainly due to the efforts of evangelical pastor Hartmut Hegeler who has taken it upon himself to champion her cause and clear her name.
Katharina Henot suffered her fiery fate in Cologne in 1627 after being found guilty of practicing black magic. Arrested, and tortured to such an extent that the right-handed woman had to scrawl her last letter of defence with her left hand, she was eventually paraded through the city in an open cart before being tied to a stake and burnt.

This is only a publicity stunt, a poor one at that. Unfortunately, their posturing won't bring this poor woman back to life. The really unfortunat thing is that if it did she would have died again before it happened... ahhh. .. .

In reality, all such murders in the Name of God or a religious dogma is in itself a demonic act. For the universal father and source of us all has never wanted pain and suffering for us. These are all our doings. We have put it upon ourselves to take the Lord's name in Vain and use it and parade it in the name of holy wars, where in fact only lower deities of the cosmic administrations and not the Supreme Creator has ordered sectarianism. The lower deities have though in many times sided with men and have congregated and miraculously made believers out of their covens and sects to pay them hom... [More]

Would be cool if she was found guilty... again. It is no longer illegal to be a witch.

I really don't see the point of this. There are real cases that need solving. ...stupid people It's an evangelical priest that is working on this so, if he starts working on other cases then we may have a sitcom in the making.

I think the witch trials started off for religious reasons, but soon became used as excuses to kill enemies or bring in laws for the benefit of those with the real power, or for their amusement. Worst excesses were in the various German states that existed in those days, and mostly in the South. To me, one of the worst aspects is that of how the state functionaries would study the reactions of people to these disgusting murders. Insuficient joy at the terrible deaths may mean you syphathise with them, and as the victims have been found guilty of being witches, then if you show any sympathy the... [More]

rqandym23, hogwash - way too many female saints in the catholic religion for women to be "inferior". And let's not for gete The Blessed Mother. Stop blaming the Catholic church for everything. They aren't infallible, but please. Have you ever actually studied history? Read about medieval history. Once Christianity was the official religion of the Roman Empire, women were not able to inherite. Women were not allowed to lead the flock like priests. Only men could 'talk to God'. Women were not allowed to heal, only men could be physicians. If women took it upon themselves to heal, they would be c... [More]
