A rare white North American black bear was spotted recently in British Columbia, its only known habitat.
From a distance the white North American black bear could be easily mistaken for a polar bear, but with a population numbering fewer than 200 the 'spirit bear' is in fact an extremely rare variant. Nature photographers from around the world often visit British Columbia to hunt down this elusive creature and capture some spectacular pictures.
With its bright white coat and enormous features, you'd be forgiven for thinking that this is a polar bear which has somehow found itself in a forest. But actually, these incredible pictures show an extremely rare 'white' black bear.
