SpaceX entrepreneur Elon Musk is aiming for a future in which tickets to Mars cost $500,000 per person.
Even though a manned mission to Mars is likely still decades away, SpaceX founder Musk is already working on a means with which to bring down the cost of a trip for tourists of the future. One key cost reduction would be to design a spacecraft that can make round-trip journeys, eliminating the cost of building a whole new vessel each time. "Land on Mars, a round-trip ticket — half a million dollars. It can be done," he said.
Serial entrepreneur Elon Musk says SpaceX is developing a plan for trips to Mars that will eventually cost just $500,000 per seat. Musk founded SpaceX 10 years ago and interplanetary travel has always been one of his goals for the company.
