Organisers were mortified to discover they'd downloaded the wrong song for the Kazakhstan anthem.
When Kazakh shooter Maria Dmitrienko stood on the pedestal she expected to hear the Kazakhstan national anthem being played, but due to an error behind the scenes the organisers somehow managed to play the spoof anthem from the end of Sacha Baron Cohen's movie 'Borat' instead.
As the loudspeakers blasted out such lyrics as "Kazakhstan's prostitutes cleanest in the region" all Dmitrienko could do was sit it out until the song had finished playing. Her team later insisted the ceremony be repeated using the correct song.
Speaking to Kazakh news agency Tengrinews, coach Anvar Yunusmetov said: 'Then Maria Dmitrienko's turn came. 'She got up on to the pedestal and they played a completely different anthem, offensive to Kazakhstan. '
