One campany is working towards a future connected by a sophisticated vacuum tube transportation system.
Known as Evacuated Tube Transport, the technology would involve accelerating car-sized capsules along vacuum-sealed tubes at speeds of up to 4,000mph. Using this mode of transportation a person could travel across the whole world in under six hours. The company claims that the technology is not only quicker than conventional transport but would use a lot less energy as well.
You know those clear vacuum tubes at bank drive-thrus -- the ones that suck up deposit canisters at lightning speed? Sure you do, they're mesmerising. Admit it, if there was a mode of transportation that allowed you to travel back and forth like those canisters do, you would be the first to hop aboard.
